Today was an incredibly special day at LA Family Housing and our sister organization LAFHBuilds as we prepared our newest permanent supportive housing community, Sherman Way, to welcome 63 residents who will move in this summer.
More than 30 volunteers joined us to help transform the studio apartments into warm, move-in-ready homes. They unpacked and organized kitchen items and household essentials, wrote welcome notes, and added thoughtful touches throughout each space.
A huge thank you to everyone who volunteered their time and energy to help make Sherman Way feel like home!

Some moments stay with you long after an outreach event ends.
At the recent LA Family Housing Homeless Connect Day, Bundles of Kindness was honored to help lead outreach efforts for our unhoused neighbors, providing essential items. We distributed cosmetics, menstrual hygiene products, socks, men’s and women’s underwear, and cat and dog treats for beloved pets that so many people on the streets consider family. These simple items may seem small, but they can bring comfort, confidence, and a sense of humanity during incredibly difficult times.
One woman carefully picked out a summer outfit and held it close to her chest with the biggest smile. Another guest became emotional while selecting makeup, quietly sharing that she hadn’t had cosmetics in a very long time. These moments matter. Small acts of kindness can restore dignity in ways words sometimes cannot.
Homelessness in Los Angeles is not just about housing. It’s about human beings. People who deserve care, respect, clean clothing, personal hygiene items, and the reminder that they have not been forgotten.
We’re deeply grateful to LA Family Housing for organizing this vital outreach event and to Project ReWear for generously contributing clothing support to the community.

This past weekend, our LAFH staff and volunteers proudly joined United Way of Greater Los Angeles’ United Walk LA, walking alongside our partners and fellow Angelenos who believe in building a stronger, more equitable Los Angeles. 💙
We were honored to be part of a day dedicated to advocating for better housing opportunities, equal access to education, and creating pathways for people to thrive in the dynamic and beautiful city we all call home.
Thank you to everyone who showed up, walked with purpose, and continues to stand with our neighbors. Together, we can create lasting change!

We’re almost there! 🧽✨ Thanks to your incredible support, we’ve received so many donations for our Spring Cleaning Drive! Our community is showing up in a big way by donating cleaning kits for our newly housed neighbors as they settle into their new homes. 🏡💛
And there’s still time to make an even bigger impact: for every cleaning kit donated, will donate 10 rolls of toilet paper - up to 10,000 rolls total! 🧻
Help us reach that 10K goal by donating a Spring Cleaning Kit today. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/316LLTQADXZJC/ref=hz_ls_biz_ex 💫

April is Volunteer Appreciation month, and LA Family Housing is celebrating and appreciating the thousands of volunteers who help make our work possible every year. Volunteers like Yanira Giron and Mark Chandler, who have decades of experience between the two of them, and have spent the last few years providing financial literacy and education to low-income families and individuals across Los Angeles through Bank of America (BoA). “I found my purpose through Bank of America in volunteering. And I found my volunteering purpose in LA Family Housing, which is to serve the unhoused community,” says Yanira. “That to me is what a perfect match is. I feel whole when I am here, when I do this.”

LAFH Awards 2026 was truly a night to remember! Last night, more than 300 partners, supporters, and new friends joined us at the Skirball Cultural Center in a powerful show of community and commitment to ending homelessness. We kicked off the evening with delicious tastings from a standout lineup of local chefs and restaurants, and Jacques Slade emceed the evening’s inspiring program.
Together, we celebrated the theme Building Home. Building Community. through powerful storytelling and heartfelt recognition of Lisa and Josh Taub and the extraordinary partnership of the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation. The inspirational story of LAFH participant Marcela’s journey from homelessness to home highlighted the life-changing impact of LAFH’s work!
Because of your overwhelming generosity, LAFH Awards 2026 raised nearly $1.3 million to help more families move into stable and safe homes of their own! If you joined us last night, thank you for making the event so meaningful. Together, we are building a future where every person has a place to call home.
