Candidate Bio:
As a Northern California, third generation Californian, Greg Royse takes immense pride in his local roots. Having lived in the area since 1977, his passion for the community has helped him foster relationships and partnerships, earning himself a reputation as a pragmatic and common-sense leader with a collaborative leadership style. Greg and Lucy currently reside in Wawona. Greg went to High school locally and then college in Northern California before joining the Marine Corps and becoming an avionics technician on the USS Kennedy, then returned to the area in 1990 with his wife Lucy, to start a family. Since his return he has been on various boards where he has shown tenacity and determination and has worked diligently for whatever cause he was involved with. Greg has been on the Fish Camp Advisory Board for the last 12 years, Wawona School Board, Mariposa Grand Jury, Scope, Tree Mortality Board, and a timber committee member for YMR. His children both attended Wawona School, Yosemite Valley School and YHS, both going on to be successful with their degrees, one in Environmental/Biology and the other in Electrical Engineering. Attributing their success in their field to the benefits of growing up in Yosemite, Greg is a firm believer in giving back to a community which has been so good for him and his family. Greg currently runs a sustainable timber farm in fish camp and so has a great understanding of all aspects of our local challenges. He hopes to be a voice for the people, to create a safe and protected community where our children can grow and flourish for the next generation.
