A big thank you to Mayor Barsa and the Borough Council for approving a new forklift for the DPW. This forklift has replaced our Toyota forklift from the early 2000's. This will help our crew work safer and more efficiently. We appreciate your support!

⚠️ Flood & Storm Safety Reminder ⚠️

With heavy rain in the forecast, please keep safety top of mind:

🚗 Never drive through flooded roads. It only takes 12 inches of moving water to sweep a car away, and standing water can hide washed-out pavement, open manholes, or downed lines.

⚡ Stay away from downed wires and trees near power lines. Storm-damaged branches can bring lines down with them, and water conducts electricity — a wire doesn't have to be touching the ground to be dangerous. Treat every downed line as live.

📞 If you see flooding on a roadway or a downed tree in the roadway, please report it right away so our crews can respond and get it addressed safely and promptly.

Stay safe, Norwood! 💙

Norwood DPW is excited to welcome 2 new additions to the fleet! 🚛

We're proud to announce the arrival of our newest 2025 F750 Hooklifts to help keep our roads, parks, and infrastructure in top shape. This upgrade will boost efficiency for everything from road repairs to seasonal cleanups — and yes, it'll be ready to roll when winter weather hits too.

These vehicles are equipped with a hook system for easy connection to various types of containers. This system leads to lower fleet costs by reducing the need to purchase and maintain a dedicated truck for each job type. Having a hook system allows for flexibility between seasons and reduces downtime by allowing the shift from leaf cleanup to winter plowing to spring/summer work at a moment's notice.

In addition to the trucks themselves, the lighting has been completely reworked. Green lighting is increasingly used on public works and emergency vehicles to improve visibility in severe weather and snow. These lights not only keep our crews safer but also help alert other motorists on the road.

Thank you to the Norwood Mayor and Council Members for investing in the equipment our crews need to serve the community safely and effectively. Stay tuned to see it out on the roads soon!
