I still remember

To the people of House District 101, it will be my honor to serve as your state representative for another two years.

We’ve completed the second month of session, and the pace at the Capitol has been full steam ahead! With the first major deadline behind us, the House has worked through hundreds of measures, sending 456 bills and resolutions to the Senate and receiving 285 from the Senate in return.
I’m proud that several of my bills have passed the House and are now in the Senate for consideration, including measures focused on strengthening penalties for crimes involving fi****ms, improving public safety laws, and increasing transparency and accountability in areas like home warranty services and vehicle collision reporting. I was also proud to see House Bill 4141 pass the House unanimously, supporting the continued role of Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner coordinators and ensuring victims receive the care and resources they need.
This month also included meaningful moments on the House floor. I had the honor of recognizing Chief Master Sergeant Walter J. Kula Jr. as Veteran of the Week, celebrating his decades of service to our country and continued commitment to our community. We also recognized the Choctaw High School Drama Team for another outstanding season, including earning their 19th state championship. Their dedication and excellence continue to represent our district well.
We also welcomed students and advocates to the Capitol, including a House page from our community and organizations working to support children, families, and individuals across Oklahoma. These visits are always a reminder of the people we serve and the importance of the work being done here.
The next major deadline for Senate bills to make it out of policy committees is April 9. As we move further into the second half session, the House is now focused on reviewing Senate bills and continuing the work ahead. Please know that I remain committed to representing our great District 101 and advancing policies that support our community!

This role supports Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners who provide compassionate care to victims and help ensure critical evidence is properly collected. Increasing awareness is key to making sure these services are available and accessible across our state.

Grateful for the opportunity to highlight this issue and help spread the word about why it matters for victims and their families.

Oklahoma lawmakers push to restore key support for sexual assault survivors Oklahoma lawmakers are advocating for the reinstatement of a crucial position to support sexual assault survivors, following the loss of federal funding.

Glad to welcome Congresswoman Stephanie Bice to the State Capitol on Monday. She joined our House Majority Caucus meeting to give an update from Washington and visit with members.

I always appreciate the opportunity to connect and talk about the issues impacting our community at both the state and federal level.

We kicked off the Second Session of the 60th Legislature on February 2 with a joint session of the House and Senate and the governor’s final State of the State address. I was especially proud to see the Choctaw Air Force Junior ROTC present the colors. They did an outstanding job and represented our community well at the Capitol.

We have also had more great visitors from our district during this first month!

I was honored to recognize Michele Bradshaw from Midwest City as our Nurse of the Day on the House Floor. It is always a privilege to highlight healthcare professionals who serve with dedication and compassion, like Michele.

I also had the opportunity to host student pages from Christian Heritage Academy. It is encouraging to see young people get a firsthand look at the legislative process and how state government works.

Choctaw students joined us for FFA Day at the Capitol through the National FFA Organization. We were also glad to have a Choctaw Scout and his leader from Scouting America stop by the Capitol.

Behind the scenes, 131 bills have been assigned to my oversight committee, and we have heard 73 so far. Next week is deadline week, so the pace will continue.

It is with heavy hearts that today we report the loss of Col Bruce “Munch” Avriett, the 552nd Air Control Group commander. Our condolences go out to his family and friends. He was a great commander and teammate to the 552nd Air Control Wing and Team Tinker. At this time of great loss it is vital that we provide as much support to the family as possible. Thank you, Governor Stitt for signing SB 1046 into law. It was my honor to be house author for SB 1046. Domestic violence must be stopped, SB 1046 now makes it a felony to assault a pregnant woman.
