Congratulations to Aksarben Foundation Student Ambassador Michael Lathan Jr. on receiving the Omaha IMPACT Awards Backbone Award! 🎉

Michael’s impact reaches far beyond his role as a security guard at Omaha North High School. Through his calm leadership, commitment to students and ability to build meaningful relationships, he helps create an environment where students and staff feel safe, supported and valued.

That same commitment to serving others is exactly what Michael brings as an Aksarben Student Ambassador, representing the next generation of leaders who are making a difference in their schools, communities and across Nebraska.

We are proud to celebrate Michael and this well-deserved recognition. Congratulations on continuing to lead with purpose and create a lasting impact!

Congratulations to Litzy Kjar-Morales, recipient of the 2026 Community Impact Award at the University of Nebraska at Omaha Career Connect Symposium!

The symposium celebrates employers and current and former interns who have made meaningful contributions to their workplaces and our community.

During her internship with the Aksarben Foundation, Litzy made a meaningful impact through her work supporting volunteer coordination across Foundation events, including the 2026 Nebraska Women in Tech Summit, the spring 2026 Midland University Speed Networking event, and our summer 2026 baseball mixer during the College World Series.

Throughout her time with our team, Litzy brought thoughtfulness, leadership, attention to detail, and an impressive ability to work well under pressure.

We’re so proud to see her contributions recognized and grateful to have had the opportunity to work with her. Congratulations, Litzy!

What a day at the Aksarben Summer Baseball Mixer! ⚾️

We brought together students, interns, young professionals, employers, and community leaders for an afternoon full of networking, new connections, and College World Series fun.

From meeting professionals and exploring career opportunities to making new friends and building connections, the mixer was a reminder of how powerful it can be when Nebraska’s next generation comes together with the people and organizations investing in their future.

A huge shoutout to Aksarben interns Litzy Morales and Shohina Sultonova for helping make it all happen! Litzy led volunteer coordination, Shohina led fundraising efforts, and together they played a major role in bringing the event to life. From problem-solving behind the scenes to helping create a welcoming space for everyone, they showed what strong student leadership looks like.

Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, and supported the event. And a special thank you to our presenting sponsor FNBO and all event sponsors including Kiewit, Scott Data Center, Barrientos Scholarship Foundation, Alvine, Koley Jessen, Shyft Solutions, and Cordova for investing in Nebraska’s emerging talent.

The future workforce is here and it’s looking bright. 🌟
