A day late in my posting but HAPPY PRIDE MONTH!!! Also peep my new pin for 300+ hours volunteering at the VA since October 2025! And we served 25 people at the pantry yesterday. A nice start to the month. Not too overwhelming. Let’s see what tomorrow brings us!

I’m smiling cause Bear is such a good boy and we also served 16 veterans at the pantry today and it was so full from the food drive last week! And after it closed today we got a very large donation from ! A good way to end the month of May and be prepared for the flood of veterans who will come on Monday for their bag for the new month. Woo!!

Stuff the Bus for the food pantry was a success! We received approximately $2814 worth of food and hygiene items. Our largest single donation ($463 worth!!!) came from my friend Katy and her outstanding efforts and about a 1/3 of the donations were a direct result of people seeing News Channel 7 news broadcasts! Great day for the pantry!!!!! Woo!

Next week we are having a food drive for the VA which we desperately need cause we’re running out of food! I had to figure out a substitute for the beans and the rice today for the 24 veterans we served today. Also ran out of crackers and are super low on pasta and sauce. No mashed potatoes. Even the ramen is down to just about 20 packs. But we finally have snacks! Hahahaha.

Got a visit from Bear today and as usual he is the sweetest boy ever! 😍 Numbers for the food pantry settled a little at 23 veterans today, but that is still 5 over the average. Got a small donation which was very helpful! We have a food drive next week thankfully.

For the last two week my art pieces “A Final Salute” and “Ariel” have been hanging at in a gallery show put on by ! All the pieces in the showed were created using recycled materials. It’s so thrilling to show my work!
The piece “A Final Salute” is a collage representing a veterans final salute to active duty. The flag represents the active duty life while the veteran represents the life of the veteran. I also surrounded the piece with real uniforms. I created her in 2025 for the veteran arts competition and she actually took first place in the college division at the local level. She is not for sale.
The piece “Ariel” is a mixed media piece made from real Little Mermaid comics in which I painted Ariel on top with acrylics. She is not for sale but i’m open to commission on other comic pieces in smaller sizes, just ask.

This is a smile of panic. Today we served another 30 veterans and their families at the VA food pantry. This growth is slightly concerning as food donations are way down. We have a food drive coming up so I hope it helps but it’s going to be a temporary fix. I’m am so thankful we have the means to help now and I hope it stays that way.

Today I gathered with dozens of other strangers to step in as family for 8 veterans who were interned at the Omaha National Cemetery with no known relatives. It was an honour to fill those shoes for them because we may not share the same last name or blood but we are family, bonded in service to our country. Till Valhalla my brothers!

I was “viciously mauled” by the cutest yorkie at the VA hospital today. Also we served a record 30 veterans and their families in the food pantry today. I’m so glad we can help but I worry because we are donation run and running out of food faster than it’s coming it.
