Orange County Down With Falls Coalition

A group of health and senior service professionals and community members who are working to educate others on fall risk reduction.
A “Down with Falls Forum” was held in Orange County in July 2005. As a result, several government agencies, non-profit organizations, college districts, medical and therapy practices, residential facilities, and businesses made a commitment to the development of a Down with Falls Coalition to serve the needs of older adults in Orange County.

Balance Awareness Week continues.
Your big toe isn't crucial for balance. People missing a big toe can still walk and run. Changes in their gait and the forces in their body can occur when walking, but they show little or no impact from having no big toe.

Yes be assertive💪😉
An important part of fall prevention is assertiveness. It's important to be assertive with our doctors and family members when we need help.
Don't be afraid to be assertive and ask for help with rearranging your cabinets to make things more accessible or when you need help transferring from one surface to another (stairs, curbs, off a chair).
Being assertive doesn't have to be aggressive. It just means asking for help when you need it.
