Negotiations are underway between the regional military commander in Uganda’s Lamwo District and the South Sudan army regarding the release of three SSPDF soldiers who are detained in Uganda.

The three were arrested in July for allegedly entering Ugandan territory illegally.

The spokesperson of the Ugandan army, Brigadier General Felix Kulayigye says the discussions include conditions to be met for the release of the soldiers.

“Well, the normal procedure is that when we get foreigners on our soil, we arrest them and hand them over to their government. Well, what's going on is that the commanders in the region and across the border are discussing the modalities,” Brigadier General Kulayigye told Radio Miraya.

SSPDF spokesperson Major General L*l Ruai said the detained soldiers crossed the border on the invitation of the Uganda soldiers manning the border.

Meanwhile, authorities of Magwi County in Eastern Equatoria State reported that Ugandan soldiers crossed into South Sudan territory.

The South Sudan Bright Stars, led by South Sudan Basketball President Luol Deng, were welcomed back from the Olympic Games in France this morning by Vice President Rebecca Nyandeng and supporters at Juba International Airport.

BREAKING NEWS: Nearly half of the 45,000 candidates, about 17,600 candidates, failed as the National Examination Council released the 2023/2024 secondary school exam results.

Only a total of 17 students scored an A plain - 11 males and 6 females, while 771 candidates scored an A-, 513 males and 258 females.

Overall, 26,440 (16,633 males, 9,807 females) attained a minimum grade of C plain to qualify for university admission.
