I’ve been traveling to Haiti since 2012 and because of my faith in the gospel. I feel like if I didn’t telling people about God , it made my heart feel guilty if I only went to do a “good deed/ a good work” BUT what has made me feel equally disappointed is the knowing that anything I have brought to give to a broken, vulnerable and in-need community was only temporary because in the absence of work/job opportunities, a ongoing broken economy AND corrupt government system was a population of people fighting daily to survive at ALL measures necessary. Jesus himself met both spiritual and practical needs of people. Its my hearts dream and mission to do the same through the efforts of Pathway to Hope. Granted, It takes faith to put our hope in God and in the gospel that is unseen. So I often question...how hard is it for them to have HOPE in the absence of things not seen yet urgently needed ( jobs/ money, Shelter, food, security) with present daily challenges AND defeats known as poverty . Over 4 thousand non-government organizations is on the grounds of Haiti yet what is the outcome of this country success and progress? Some NGO In haiti have pushed their own agendas & mission , scripted words in their core values that is voided in their commitments and mission. Sad to say, many has used Haiti as a stepping stool to their level up in success and the branding of marketing their organization names for vain glory. Meanwhile, many have normal lives to return back to as a population of resilient people are unfairly misused in their working labors to live a life as a “slave” in what’s deemed to be a curse. How much of a greater force and impact will it be if these organizations could come together and work in unity. We ought to stop competing and comparing as people are suffering and dying. Where there is a will... there is a way. Want to revolutionize your core values within your mission ? Take one mouth - live like a local!!on the local dollar AND as a local day to day experiences to survive and watch your compassion extends to deeper measures. As one of the kids told me once “you will never know the value of water until you had to carry it yourself”
