Today, let's honor the legacy of Septima Poinsette Clark, a pioneering educator and civil rights activist known as the "Queen Mother" or "Grandmother" of the Civil Rights Movement. She played a crucial role in empowering African Americans through education and voter registration. Septima Clark's Citizenship Schools provided literacy and political education to thousands of African Americans, empowering them to assert their rights and become active participants in democracy. Her tireless efforts significantly contributed to the Civil Rights Movement's success and the eventual passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. ππ³οΈ

Today's Black History fact is about Claudette Colvin, a pioneer in the Civil Rights Movement. On March 2, 1955, nine months before Rosa Parks' famous act of civil disobedience, Claudette Colvin, then a 15-year-old high school student in Montgomery, Alabama, refused to give up her seat on a segregated bus to a white passenger. Colvin's courageous defiance of segregation laws helped spark the Montgomery Bus Boycott and paved the way for future civil rights protests. Despite facing backlash and harassment, Colvin's bravery and activism contributed to the eventual desegregation of public transportation in the United States. ππ
