PROBLEM: After fifteen consecutive "blue cove" no kill days to kick off this year's dolphin slaughter and abduction season in Taiji, Japan which officially began on September 1st and runs through April, a pod of Risso's dolphins have fallen first victims. An undesired species for captivity and commercial exploitation for Sea World and other marine parks, the Risso's were corralled and m
urdered in the cove. SOLUTION: If 500 American observers were on the ground in Taiji, this never-ending atrocity would be regularly televised on US national and local news and covered by the larger US based international news agencies. With Japan's 2020 Olympic bid on the line, they can't afford that type of negative attention in the international spotlight right now. Too many grueling, heart-breaking and fruitlessly futile years of infinite patience has proven that the exposure created by a small handful of international observers in Taiji has not given the Japanese government sufficient cause or motivation to put an end to the slaughter. Just like a commercial airliner going down in a remote region of Africa with no Americans on board doesn't even make the news back in the states, without a large American presence in Taiji, only a very small percentage of people worldwide will ever catch wind of the story. The majority of people i talk to outside cetacean and animal rights circles about Taiji think i'm talking about a type of sushi. If 500 American observers were on the ground in Taiji, the story would regularly be on TV screens in the states and throughout the world and Taiji would become a household name overnight. Until that happens, the Japanese government continues to have no sufficient cause or motivation to shut Taiji down. We're trying to accumulate 50 celebrity and philanthropist advocates to each sponsor and finance the airfare to and lodging in Taiji for 10 very well screened American observers.
