PROPERTY ASSESSMENT UPDATE

We understand that many residents recently received their property assessment notices and that the timing for Open Book was very short.

To provide an additional opportunity for residents to ask questions about their assessments, the City Assessor will be available at Osseo City Hall on Monday, October 26, from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

Residents with questions or concerns about their assessment are encouraged to stop in and speak directly with the assessor.

Well, the cat is officially out of the bag!

Many of you may have already seen the news last week, but the City of Osseo is excited to officially recognize that the Stoddard Park project, in partnership with the Osseo Community Foundation, has been awarded a Kubota Hometown Proud Grant.

This is an especially exciting honor for our community. Kubota receives thousands of applications from across the country each year, with only 10 Hometown Proud Grant awards presented nationwide.

Earlier this year, Mayor Josh submitted the grant application on behalf of the project. Eric Weiss of the Osseo Fairchild School District also played an important role by assisting with the video portion of the application, helping showcase the areas of Stoddard Park most in need of improvement and the vision for what the park can become.

The award includes $25,000 in cash funding, along with $25,000 toward the purchase of Kubota equipment that will help support the long term maintenance and care of the park.

We are especially grateful for our local Kubota dealer, Johnson Tractor, and their continued support, partnership, and investment in the Osseo community. Having a strong local partner that believes in projects like this makes a tremendous difference.

This award is another major step forward for Stoddard Park and another great example of what can happen when community organizations, schools, local businesses, and residents come together around a shared vision.

Thank you to Kubota, Johnson Tractor, the Osseo Community Foundation, Eric Weiss, and everyone who continues to support the future of Stoddard Park and our community!

Osseo is Hometown Proud!

🐔 LET’S TALK CHICKENS! 🐔

We’ve heard from residents who would love to have chickens in the City of Osseo. We’ve also heard from residents who would rather not have chickens as neighbors.

And we know there are already a few chickens calling Osseo home. 👀🐓

So, we need your help!

On Monday, September 14, the Osseo City Council will be discussing chickens within the city and what, if anything, our rules should look like going forward.

Should chickens be allowed? Should there be limits? Rules on where they can be kept?

We want to hear from you!

Whether you’re firmly Team Chicken, firmly Team No Chicken, or somewhere in between, please come to the meeting and share your thoughts with the Council.

And yes, if you already have chickens, we’d especially like to hear from you too!

OSSEO CITY COUNCIL UPDATE

Tonight, during a special meeting of the Osseo City Council, the Council approved a resolution and ordinance declaring the City’s intent to exercise extraterritorial zoning authority within specified areas of the Town of Sumner.

This action comes in response to concerns surrounding the proposed solar development outside the City of Osseo’s municipal boundaries and the potential impact that future land use in this area could have on the City’s Comprehensive Plan and long term growth.

The next step in the process will be the formation of a joint committee made up of representatives from both the City of Osseo and the Town of Sumner. That committee will review and consider future zoning within the specified area as part of the extraterritorial zoning process.

The City will continue to provide updates as this process moves forward.

In accordance with the national proclamation, the City of Osseo is lowering our flags to half staff as we join the nation in mourning the loss of music icon, Dolly Parton.

Her music and legacy will be remembered for generations. ❤️🇺🇸
