In complex incidents involving multiple jurisdictions and disparate radio systems, interoperability provides the common operating picture that keeps responders connected, informed, and safe. Effective communication isn't optional, it's mission critical and we are honored to provide that via our tactical communications unit.

Crews responded to a possible structure fire on Parched Corn Rd this morning. Logan-Rogersville Fire Chief 3 was first arriving, reporting difficult access to a working structure fire with smoke and fire showing. The structure was a vacant 2 story home approximately 600 feet off the road with a narrow drive with fallen trees, up a large hill. Crews from Ozark, Sparta Fire, Logan-Rogersville Fire, and Battlefield stretched over 800 feet of hose to attack the fire and provide water supply from the roadway. The structure was heavily damaged. Christian County 911, Cox EMS, Christian County Fire Corps and neighbors with utility vehicles provided support. Nixa Fire assisted with covering the Ozark district during the incident. Thank you to all who asssited.

# # # PRESS RELEASE # # # #

Due to ongoing dry conditions, increased fire danger, and current weather forecasts, Christian County has issued a countywide burn ban effective immediately. The burn ban prohibits all outdoor burning, including the burning of brush, debris, and other combustible materials, until further notice. County officials are taking this precautionary measure to reduce the risk of wildfires that could threaten lives, property, and natural resources. County officials, emergency responders and local fire departments are urging residents to use extreme caution with any activities that could produce sparks or open flames.

The burn ban will remain in effect for 30 days from adoption, or until conditions improve, and fire danger decreases. Residents are encouraged to stay informed through official county communication channels for updates regarding the status of the ban. Anyone found violating the burn ban may be subject to penalties as provided by state and local regulations. County leaders appreciate the public’s cooperation and commitment to helping protect the community during this period of heightened fire risk.

The Christian County Emergency Services Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of David R. Driskell as Executive Director of Christian County Emergency Services. Driskell, who has served as Interim Executive Director, brings more than two decades of experience in emergency communications, public safety operations, technology, and organizational leadership to the position.

Driskell has been a member of the Christian County Emergency Services leadership team since 2021, serving as Deputy Director before assuming the responsibilities of Interim Executive Director. His professional background includes extensive experience in emergency communications, law enforcement, fire service, and public safety technology.

Throughout his career, Driskell has held several leadership positions, including Operations and Systems Manager for Christian County and Supervisory Team Lead and Product Owner with Tyler Technologies, a national provider of public safety software and technology solutions. His experience has provided him with a strong understanding of emergency communications operations, computer-aided dispatch systems, radio communications, and the technological infrastructure necessary to support modern public safety services.

During his tenure as Interim Executive Director, Driskell has worked to strengthen organizational stability, improve financial accountability, address staffing and recruitment challenges, and advance several important public safety initiatives. His leadership has included efforts involving the Missouri Statewide Interoperability Network (MOSWIN), computer-aided dispatch modernization, radio interoperability, and improvements to organizational processes and operational readiness.

"David has demonstrated the leadership, professionalism, and commitment necessary to guide Christian County Emergency Services into the future," said Jarett Metheny, Chairman of the Christian County Emergency Services Board of Directors. "His extensive experience, technical knowledge, and understanding of our organization make him exceptionally well-qualified for this position. The Board is confident in his ability to strengthen our operations, support our employees, and continue providing the high level of emergency communications services our citizens and public safety partners depend upon."

In addition to his professional experience, Driskell has a long history of public service in southwest Missouri. He has served as a volunteer firefighter with the Logan-Rogersville Fire Protection District and in law enforcement positions with the Strafford Police Department and Christian County Sheriff's Office. He holds a bachelor's degree in Public Administration from Southern New Hampshire University and has completed numerous public safety and emergency management training programs.

As Executive Director, Driskell will oversee the administrative, financial, operational, and technological functions of Christian County Emergency Services. His priorities will include maintaining reliable emergency communications, supporting employee recruitment and retention, strengthening partnerships with public safety agencies, and ensuring the organization is prepared to meet the evolving needs of Christian County.

Christian County Emergency Services provides critical emergency communications and dispatch services supporting public safety agencies throughout Christian County. The organization remains committed to professionalism, operational excellence, and the safety of the citizens, visitors, and emergency responders it serves.

📣 Request for Proposals - Staffing, Salaries, and Space Needs Assessment 📣

Christian County Emergency Services (“CCES”) is soliciting proposals from qualified firms (“Consultants”) to conduct a comprehensive staffing, salary and compensation, and space needs analysis and assessment for its administrative offices, emergency communications center, and emergency operations center. The selected consultant will provide objective, data-driven findings and actionable recommendations to support current operations, long-range planning, recruitment and retention, compensation competitiveness, facility utilization, and future public safety service needs.

CCES is the sole Public Safety Answering Point (“PSAP”) and provides 24/7/365 emergency and non-emergency communication services for the entire county, including the cities and communities of Billings, Boaz, Chadwick, Clever, Fremont Hills, Garrison, Highlandville, Nixa, Ozark, Saddlebrooke, and Sparta. The organization supports both 9-1-1 and administrative call-handling, primary dispatch services for seven law enforcement agencies and seven fire districts, with anticipation of emergency medical dispatch for the county’s ambulance district in 2030. Moreover, the organization provides secondary or supplementary dispatch services for multiple local and state agencies from the current communications center located at 110 West Elm Street in Ozark, Missouri. The administrative offices are located at a separate facility, 204 West Elm Street in Ozark.

Since consolidation in 2011, the county’s population has grown from approximately 78,600 to an estimated 97,400 in 2026, with increases in virtually all measurable metrics; incoming 911 and non-emergency calls, calls for service to police, fire, and EMS. The organization seeks an independent assessment that aligns staffing levels, compensation structures, and physical space with operational demand, service expectations, employee wellness, technology needs, and anticipated growth.
