Last night, the eight Rotary Clubs that participated in Oktoberfest met to discuss the event, which is always held on the first Saturday of October. This year, fun was had by all and some even wore lederhosen! Not only did the event bring together Rotarians, it also raised money!

It was agreed that $7,200 would go to polio eradication and $7,200 would go to fighting Child Homelessness. HOPE for Families Center in Vero will receive $4,320, and Community Of Hope, Brevard will receive $2,880.

Thank you to Claire Ellis and Cathy Greene from Zonta Club of Melbourne
for joining us at Tuesday’s meeting. Claire spoke to the club about Zonta’s efforts to empower women and girls in our community. She shared information about how to spot victims of human trafficking and the Space Coast Human Trafficking Task Force Symposium taking place on January 7. Very sad but powerful message.

Our guest speaker on Tuesday, October 13 will be Claire from Zonta Club of Melbourne. Claire is on the Board of Directors for Space Coast Human Trafficking Task Force and is co-chair of the Task Force Education Committee. She will be sharing details about the SCHTTF Symposium taking place in January. Zonta Club of Melbourne has designed a special presentation for hotel employees regarding human trafficking which has been chosen as official training for all hotels in Florida. Claire has presented this presentation at local hotels and community groups and will also be sharing information about this presentation. Please join us at The Broken Barrel Tavern beginning at 5:30 to hear Claire's important message.
