Christine Su, CEO & Founder of PastureMap (yes, we're proud investors), shares thoughts on small business resilience during COVID-19 with our farmers and ranchers. The vast majority are small business owners who will be hardest hit by this pandemic.
Farmers supplying local food to restaurants and corporate catering are facing drastic reductions in demand. The silver lining: self-quarantine is likely to accelerate adoption of direct-to-consumer food and grocery purchases. This could be a long-awaited behavior shift to online food purchasing that supports independent foodmakers and farmers.
Ranchers have nutrient-dense, high quality, packaged and frozen meat products ready to ship. Local produce farmers will stick with farmers markets as long as they are open, and considering delivery if they close. Pasturemap encourages all their shareholders, investors, and community members to buy direct from farmers and stock up your freezers with delicious meat and local produce.
Small business resilience during COVID-19
Most of our ranchers are small businesses, and we want to support our community during COVID-19. I wanted to offer some ideas - as a fellow small business owner, and also as a tech startup that works remotely.
