Proven Leadership. Ready to Serve.

I’m Jimmy Hansen, and I’m asking for your vote for Hubbard County Sheriff.

I bring 26 years of law-enforcement experience, including 16 years as Akeley’s Police Chief. That experience has taught me that public safety depends on professionalism, communication, and strong relationships with the people we serve.

As Sheriff, I will listen to residents and employees, strengthen cooperation among local communities and law-enforcement partners, support the people who serve in the Sheriff’s Office, and promote careful, accountable use of taxpayer dollars. My goal is a Sheriff’s Office that is prepared, responsive, and connected to every community in Hubbard County.

I have chosen Brian Halbasch as my choice for Chief Deputy if elected. Brian brings broad public-safety experience in Hubbard County, including work in corrections, dispatch, patrol, and emergency management.

I would be honored to earn your vote on November 3. Together, we can serve Hubbard County with Professionalism with Compassion.

Jimmy would like to thank the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe for inviting him to “Our Voices, Our Future: Meet the Candidates” at Cedar Lakes Casino.

He enjoyed meeting community members, listening, and talking about the issues that matter most. It was wonderful to see candidates and community members from across the region come together in support of the community.

The campaign team also appreciated the singers and drummers who shared their music, the prayer offered for the event and all the candidates, and the delicious meal prepared for everyone. Comedian Rob Fairbanks made the evening even more fun as emcee.

Happy Indigenous Peoples’ Day!

Today we honor Indigenous peoples—their histories, cultures, contributions, and sovereignty. This day is personally meaningful to Jimmy because Indigenous ancestry is part of his family bloodline.

Jimmy has been invited to Our Voices, Our Future: Meet the Candidates on Monday, October 19, from 5–8 p.m. at Cedar Lakes Casino & Hotel in Cass Lake. He looks forward to meeting Hubbard County residents from the Leech Lake community and seeing you there!

The Park Rapids Enterprise covered the second Hubbard County sheriff candidate forum, where Jimmy addressed impartial law enforcement, accountability, community relationships, and youth outreach.

Jimmy spoke about treating people equally under the law and said that any genuine complaint involving the Sheriff’s Office—including one involving the sheriff—should be referred to an outside agency. He also emphasized protecting constitutional rights, holding employees accountable, strengthening partnerships with Leech Lake, Cass County, and neighboring agencies, and continuing youth outreach.
