Officer Berry had the pleasure of teaching de-escalation techniques to the staff of the McCreary Community Building on Monday. Using both classroom instruction and scenarios to help the staff put into practice what they had learned will help the next time they are confronted with a tense situation. The Perry Police Department always enjoys being able to help and support our city partners and community.

The Perry Police Department would like to congratulate Officer Jayden Day for successfully completing his certification as our newest Drug Recognition Expert. Officer Day completed two weeks of classroom and practical exercises in Des Moines and had to complete 12 accurate evaluations on impaired people in Jacksonville, FL, to complete his certification. This training is provided and paid for through the Iowa Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau Grant. Officer Day’s expertise will help reduce impaired driving in our community.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Perry Police Officers are proudly wearing pink badges to show our support for everyone affected by breast cancer.

To those currently fighting, the survivors, the families standing beside them, and those we have lost — we stand with you, celebrate you, and remember you.

This October, we wear pink as a reminder that no one fights alone. 🩷

We were privileged to have a few visitors stop by the police department on Thursday morning. Kindergarten and first grade students from St. Patrick’s School came by for a tour of the police and fire department. Each student also received a swag bag!
