$900,000.00 GRANT AWARDED TO SILVERDALE BOROUGH
Senator Jarrett Coleman and PA State Rep. Shelby Labs awarded $900,000 to the Silverdale Borough and Silverdale Volunteer Fire Co. for the purchase of a new fire engine on September 16th, 2026.
“I want to express my sincere appreciation to Senator Jarrett Coleman and Representative Shelby Labs for helping make today a reality,” commented Silverdale Mayor Jim Browne. “I would also like to recognize their staff members for all they do behind the scenes,”
“I wish to extend our deepest appreciation to Fire Chief Keith Seifert and the entire Silverdale Volunteer Fire Company for everything you do for our community,” continued Mayor Browne. “Additionally, I want to thank the many others who were vital in helping with the application process, especially our office staff, Lisa Hermann and Darya Mace Tasker; Stephen Barth of Barth Consulting Group - Downtown Revitalization & Economic Development; and all of Borough Council.”
“We are grateful for this grant opportunity and are extremely grateful for our volunteers. With this grant, we know that Silverdale Volunteer Fire Company will be better equipped to serve the borough and surrounding communities for years to come,” proclaimed Mayor Jim Browne.
"We are extremely grateful to receive this grant and want to thank all who were involved in making the award possible,” remarked Fire Chief Keith Seifert. “We are very excited to continue the process and take delivery of a new piece of apparatus. The new engine will provide state-of-the-art safety features for our firefighters and the residents we serve in Silverdale Borough and Hilltown Township, as well as the many surrounding communities to whom we provide mutual aid coverage. There really are not enough words to describe how fortunate we are to receive this money.”
The impact of this grant helps the Silverdale Volunteer Fire Company provide coverage not only to Silverdale but it’s neighboring communities, protecting nearly 50,000 people. In the past ten years the area has seen tremendous growth adding over 1,000 new homes. And, in this year alone another 51 new homes were constructed in Silverdale and another 300+ in surrounding communities.
The new fire truck will replace a 25-year-old engine that has become increasingly unreliable and difficult to maintain. The new engine will include improved maneuverability, greater pumping capacity, enhanced warning and scene lighting systems and additional safety features.
Senator Coleman and Representative Labs awarded over $2.3 million in other significant municipal Local Share Account (LSA) grant projects throughout their district in Sellersville, Perkasie, Bedminster, Hilltown, and Plumsteadville to provide for public safety, infrastructure and community improvement projects.“These grants address real needs throughout our community,” said Representative Labs. “They will help replace aging equipment, strengthen emergency response, improve public spaces and make important infrastructure upgrades. I am grateful to work with Senator Coleman and our local partners to secure this funding and move these projects forward.” “These are vital projects for the people Representative Labs and I represent,” said Coleman. “Ensuring that local priorities get the attention and funding they deserve goes a long way toward keeping our communities safe and vibrant.” It is important to note that the Local Share Account (LSA) program distributes gaming revenues to economic development projects. These are not taxpayer dollars. LSA funds are distributed by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development which administers the commonwealth’s economic stimulus packages.
The Borough of Silverdale Mayor, Council President, and Vice President, on behalf of the entire borough council, is both proud and excited to have pledge our support for the Silverdale Volunteer Fire Company in this grant opportunity.
