Yesterday, the Newtown-Makefield Truck Enforcement Task Force conducted a commercial vehicle enforcement detail to help ensure the safety of our roadways.

Officers from the Newtown Township Police Department reported the following results:
✅ 8 commercial trucks inspected
📝 5 citations issued
⚠️ 5 warnings issued
⛔ 2 trucks placed out of service due to safety violations

These enforcement efforts help identify unsafe vehicles and equipment issues before they can contribute to crashes, keeping our community and roadways safer for everyone.

Yesterday, our community celebrated the hard work, dedication, and achievements of the graduating seniors of Council Rock High School North.

Today, members of the Newtown Township Police Department Command Staff, Honor Guard, Motorcycle Unit, and our PBA President joined a large contingent of law enforcement officers from across Bucks County to attend the memorial service for Officer Kristen Yeager.

Please keep Officer Yeager’s family, loved ones, and the members of Central Berks Regional Police Department in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

NEWS POST: INCIDENT BLOTTER: MAY 29 - JUNE 4, 2026 May 30, 2026At approximately 1:00 am police were dispatched to Homewood Suites for the report of a disorderly subject outside. As a result of the investigation, one male subject was cited with disorderly conduct and public intoxication.

Starting tomorrow, June 05, 2026, Paul Miller’s Law will be in full effect and enforceable with fines. This law prohibits, as a primary offense, any driver from using an interactive mobile device (IMB) while driving a motor vehicle.

Newtown Township, PA - Faces of the Newtown Township Police Department, Community Connection Spotlight 🚓

On July 5, 2023, we welcomed Valerie Becker as the Chief’s Executive Assistant. Val came highly recommended and endorsed with extensive law enforcement experience from Montgomery County. She joined the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office in March 1999, where she worked for 4 years as a legal secretary. Then, in June 2003, she joined the Montgomery County Detective Bureau, where she worked as an investigator and an investigative analyst. She also serves as a consultant with Saint Joseph’s University Center for Addiction and Recovery Education and is the Executive Secretary for the Pennsylvania Narcotic Officers’ Association.

Val quickly became a cornerstone of our department. She manages the daily administrative duties, leads our civilian support staff, is integral in many facets of the police department, and is a tremendous benefit to the community we serve.

Outside of work, Val enjoys spending time with family, going to the shore, playing games, making cheesy jokes, attending Zumba, and reading.
