Aims: a) To bring those who value literacy together to develop a public-access repository of literacy resources for educators and for students. b) To support the establishment of a public access library based in Bugesera District, Rwanda, East Africa.
Languages in focus: Kinyarwanda, KiSwahili, Arabic, English, French, Chinese (Mandarin), & Spanish. Additionally, electronic contributions from linguists and language instructors of African languages are welcomed.
Books for Bugesera seeks to place within Central-East Africa an effective centrifuge for language, literacy, and learning that supports multilingualism, embraces mother tongue language acquisition (L1), and strengthens the ongoing efforts within the region and the continent to preserve languages and to promote literacy in African languages for African learners.

Here is a great example of what the proliferation of library services in Rwanda can do within a country that sets the benchmark globally for the percentage of women in the national legislative branch of government.
It is also fitting to note that research indicates that in Rwanda it is and has been Rwandan women at the front-lines promoting the culture of literacy and the expansion of accessible, free reading material to the Rwandan citizenry. That begins with Her Excellancy the First Lady of Rwanda, who champions Imbuto Foundation, and Stella Ford Mugabo, who serves like the Spinal Cord to Rwanda's capacity-building initiatives.
