Gun violence is not an abstract policy debate. It is a daily reality for far too many Pennsylvania families.

I stood on the Capitol Steps today with advocates from CeaseFirePA in support of their advocacy day. I spoke about both the progress we've made and the work that remains ahead. Philadelphia has seen one of the most dramatic reductions in gun violence in recent years, but more than 700 people were still shot in our city last year alone. Behind every number is a person, a family, and a community forever changed.

For my family, this fight is deeply personal. In 2021, we lost our loved one, Saladin "Lala" Mahmoud, in a mass shooting. Nothing can bring him back. That is why we must focus not only on prosecuting violence after it happens, but on preventing it in the first place.

We know what works. We must continue investing in community-based gun violence prevention programs, pass red flag laws, ban assault weapons, and take the commonsense steps that will save lives.

The bills have been introduced. The solutions are known. What we need now is the political courage to act.

I am proud to stand with CeaseFirePA and everyone fighting to end gun violence and make our communities safer.

Today was bigger than a ribbon cutting it was a promise fulfilled. Proud to stand alongside my sister, as we celebrate the Grand Opening of Clearfield Senior Affordable Housing. Through collaboration, commitment, and partnership with city and state funding, we're creating opportunities for our seniors to live with dignity, comfort, and community. This is what happens when we invest in people and neighborhoods. The work continues! 🏡✨

Standing alongside community members, advocates, and families reminds me of the power of unity, healing, and hope. Together, we can raise awareness, support those impacted by violence, and work toward safer communities for all.

It was a honor to attend the Georgia E. Gregory Interdenominational School of Music's Poor Man's Banquet Buffet. It was a wonderful event filled with fellowship, inspiration, and appreciation for the impact of music, faith, and community. Grateful for the opportunity to support such a meaningful event and celebrate the work being done to enrich lives through education and ministry.
