Hello Supporters, Family and Friends! I will repost this request until we reach our goal of $9,000. Thank you so much for those of you that have already contributed to the Rice and Millet Fund for our children at Joseph’s Place in Niamey, Niger Africa.

We hope that all is well with you and your families. Emerald's Jewels and Joseph's Place is coming to you with a most sincere and urgent request for our youth. With the current political climate in the Republic of Niger, West Africa, there have been many changes. One change that directly affects our youth at Joseph's Place is the drastic increase in the price for food. In the past year, the cost for Sorghum has increased by 40% and the price for Rice has increased by 25%. Because of food blockades into the country and farmers not having access to chemical fertilizer during the last growing season, access to food in Niger is a crisis now and many families cannot wait until the summer without experiencing severe hunger. We are using our current resources to help meet any immediate food shortages among our children’s families. We also encourage and support their families in using organic fertilizer and pesticides from ingredients that are already in their environment. Yolanda has been in Niamey, Niger Africa for over five years now and each year we provide millet, sorghum, and rice to our youth during the summer break to help them and their families until crops are ready for harvest. This year, we hope to purchase 200 kgs of sorghum (440 pounds) and 50 kgs of rice (110 pounds) for each of our 50 children. We are purchasing these staple foods as funds become available to Emerald's Jewels. The total cost to purchase sorghum and rice for 50 children and transport it to the various villages will be $9,000. We are asking you to financially partner with us in the purchase of these much-needed staple items. Every dollar helps. One hundred percent of your donations will be used for the purchase and transportation of the food to our youth.

Days for Girls International is donating more kits for our young ladies in Niamey, Niger Africa. I will be travelling their in 2 weeks to deliver them and so much more to our youth at Joseph's Place. The house father at Joseph's Place in Niamey, Niger Africa, Pastor Omar, and his helper Seybou, took an empty plot that was loaned to us and created a garden! In a few weeks, we will have fresh vegetables, God willing! He planted lettuce, tomatoes, cabbage, eggplant, onions and celery. Today, we bought seeds for green peppers, melons, watermelon, carrots, and corn. Our children came to pray over the blessings of bountiful crops!
