MC is conserving a series of mosaics entitled “Youth Carrying the Heritage of Arts from the Past into the Future.” The mosaics were created by Monty Lewis in 1941 as part of the WPA Federal Arts Program and were originally installed at the now demolished Trenton Central High School. Upon completion of a new school facility, MC will reinstall these colorful mosaics.

Conservation Specialist and Sculptor, Lee Dunsmore, is replicating the beaded astragal moulding on an Indiana Limestone cornice. This design motif was common in Greek and Roman architecture and in the Classical Revival styles. Examples can be found at the Pantheon in Rome, Delphi in Greece and modern examples at the United States Supreme Court. @ Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

MC is currently working at Eastern State Penitentiary to conserve the cell block where the infamous Al Capone was held for 8 months in 1929. Marco Federico, Senior Conservator, is stabilizing and conserving the original plaster walls.

Human-shaped coffins became common in ancient Egypt during the New Kingdom. The form continued through the Ptolemaic Period, when this coffin lid was made for "the Osiris, Sema-ir-dis." Conservation of the polychrome finish is currently being carried out in Glencairn’s Egyptian Gallery by Conservator Natalie Karas (AIC-PA) of Materials Conservation Co., LLC.

Glencairn Museum in Bryn Athyn, PA houses an incredible collection of medieval polychrome sculpture. MC recently completed stabilization and conservation of The Visitation, a French 12th century polychrome limestone sculpture depicting the biblical story of the Virgin Mary visiting her cousin Elizabeth.
