Many thanks to the leaders of the Bharatiya Temple for inviting me to participate in their Meet & Greet this past weekend during the Philadelphia Ganesh Festival at Bharatiya Temple.

The Meet & Greet was an opportunity for elected officials and candidates to meet with Temple leaders and address concerns from their community. Our visit began with a spirited discussion over chai and samosas that covered a wide range of topics important to the Indian American community—from taxes, to representation in local government, public safety and the very serious issue of hate crimes.

Over the years, I’ve worked diligently to ensure that our Township’s boards and commissions reflect the diversity of our community, and it was gratifying to see so many familiar faces at the event, including Manish Ingle who serves on our MTMSA - Montgomery Twp Municipal Sewer Authority Board.

Supervisor Beth Allen Staab joined me and we were both honored to be introduced on the festival stage. And then came the fun! A few of the ladies from the Temple pulled us onto the dance floor before giving us a tour of the festival vendors, where we enjoyed seeing everything from beautiful traditional apparel and jewelry to accessories, food and more.

Thank you to everyone at the Bharatiya Temple and Philadelphia Ganesh Festival for your hospitality, the thoughtful conversation, and for sharing your culture, values and traditions with us. Events like this are a wonderful reminder that building a strong community starts with getting to know one another—and there may be no better way to do that than over good conversation, good food and a little dancing.

It was an honor to welcome so many distinguished guests to Montgomery Township this afternoon as we commemorated the 73rd anniversary of the alliance between the United States and the Republic of Korea and paid tribute to the veterans whose service helped secure freedom for the people of South Korea.

The ceremony brought together veterans, representatives of the Republic of Korea, federal, state, county and local officials, members of the Korean-American community, and community leaders to recognize an alliance forged through tremendous sacrifice and sustained by an enduring commitment to freedom.

Montgomery Township is proud to be home to the Korean War Memorial Peace Park. As Chair of the Board of Supervisors, it was a privilege to welcome everyone to our community and, most importantly, to personally thank the veterans in attendance.

My sincere thanks to Grand Master B**g Pil Yang and all of the Peace Park Committee members for their continued stewardship of this important memorial, and to the many distinguished guests, veterans and community members who joined us today for this special commemoration.

Extending my sincere thanks to Carolyn McCreary for her leadership and service to Montgomery Township over the past seven years, and wishing her continued success in the next chapter of her career.

I’m also delighted to congratulate Shannon Drosnock on her appointment as Interim Township Manager. As Executive Director of the MTMSA - Montgomery Twp Municipal Sewer Authority and our former Township Finance Director, Shannon brings extensive knowledge of the Township, our operations and our community to this role. She is uniquely qualified to help guide us through this transition while the Board conducts its search for our next Township Manager.

I’m especially grateful to Shannon and to the MTMSA Board for their partnership and generosity in making this arrangement possible. Their willingness to work collaboratively with the Township has allowed Shannon to step in immediately and already begin assisting with a number of important projects and priorities. That spirit of cooperation and shared commitment to our community is greatly appreciated.

Our goal is to have a permanent Township Manager in place by the end of the year, and I’m confident that we are in very capable hands as we move through this leadership transition.

Our hearts are heavy with the news of Sgt. Lee Wagner’s passing. He served our community faithfully and with distinction, and he was taken from us far too soon.

My deepest condolences go out to Lee’s family and friends, his fellow officers and colleagues at MTPD, and everyone in our Township family who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him.

We mourn his loss and are grateful for his years of dedicated service to Montgomery Township. May he rest in peace.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sergeant Lee Wagner who died unexpectedly following a sudden medical emergency on August 19, 2026.

Sergeant Wagner served the Montgomery Township Police Department with distinction for 16 years. Throughout his career, Sergeant Wagner was known for unwavering dedication to the community, commitment to fellow officers, and professionalism in service to others.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Sergeant Wagner’s family, loved ones, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. We ask that the privacy of the family be respected as they grieve this tremendous loss.

Sergeant Wagner will be remembered not only for the badge he proudly wore, but for the lives touched through a career dedicated to protecting and serving others. He believed in putting others before himself, stepping up when others would not, and choosing to provide, protect, and love with his whole heart.

He is survived by his wife and four children, who were the center of his life. Those wishing to assist the Wagner family during this difficult and heartbreaking time can make a donation through Fund the First or the Montgomery County Hero Fund.

Among the many things I love about Montgomery Township are our parks and trails.

This peaceful spot is located on a wooded trail near Spring Valley Park. Benches tucked along the path offer a place to sit for a while, listen to the sounds of nature and enjoy the tranquility.

We are fortunate to have many beautiful places like this right here in our own community that are free and available to all. Be sure to get outside and explore everything Montgomery Township has to offer.

As Chair of the Montgomery Township Board of Supervisors, I think it’s important to seek out new ideas and continually look for ways we can improve how we conduct our meetings, communicate with residents, make decisions and serve our taxpayers. No matter how long you’ve been in public service, there is always more to learn.

Toward that end, I spent the past two days in State College at the PSATS Board Chair Retreat, joining township supervisors and board chairs from across PA to learn, exchange ideas and share best practices.

Over the course of the retreat, we heard from a variety of speakers on topics ranging from running effective public meetings and complying with PA’s Sunshine Law to crisis communications, navigating personnel matters and other challenges facing local governments. Just as valuable were the conversations with fellow municipal leaders about what’s working well in their communities and the lessons they’ve learned along the way.

The retreat was held at Toftrees Golf Resort, and while I didn’t manage to get in any golf, we did take a group excursion to Penn State’s campus to enjoy some ice cream at the Berkey Creamery! 😋🍨

I returned a pound or two heavier 😉 but also equipped with some great ideas to share with my Board colleagues and staff as we continue working to make Montgomery Township government as effective, transparent and responsive as possible.

Many thanks to PSATS for two productive days of learning, collaboration and connection!

Earlier today, I was pleased to join my Board colleague, Eric Pelletier, and others for a tour of the new Penn Medicine facility that’s currently under construction. Having visited the site around this time last year, I was amazed by how much progress has been made.

A big thank you to Matt Walsh and the team at Butz Construction for taking the time to walk us through the project and explain the remarkable amount of planning and coordination happening behind the scenes.

One of the most interesting aspects of the tour was learning how some of the exam rooms and restrooms are being built off-site (locally) as fully assembled “pods” before being delivered and connected to the building’s electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems. It’s an innovative approach that improves quality, efficiency, and consistency.

The project is also being designed to achieve LEED Gold certification, with approximately 224 geothermal wells drilled nearly 600 feet into the ground to help heat and cool the building. Even the windows have been thoughtfully designed with a subtle dotted pattern to help prevent bird strikes.

Beyond the impressive engineering, what stood out most was the attention to detail, the emphasis on safety, and the teamwork required to bring a project of this scale to life. It’s easy to drive past a construction site without appreciating the thousands of decisions that go into every phase of the work.

Construction is expected to be completed in April 2027, with the first patients anticipated to be welcomed in October 2027.

It was also nice that today’s tour took place in slightly cooler weather. Our first visit was on a day when temperatures topped 100 degrees. At 84 degrees, today was a much more comfortable opportunity to see firsthand how this exciting project continues to take shape.

Thank you again to everyone involved for sharing your work with us. I look forward to watching this project continue to progress.
