Help keep our Halloween trick-or-treaters safe!
🎃Walking or driving: Phones down. Eyes up.
🎃Wear reflective clothing or a glow stick.
🎃Cross the street at well lit corners, not in-between parked cars.
🎃Use extra caution and patience driving, especially around driveways.

Change your clocks, check your smoke alarms⬇️

🚨⏰ Don't forget! ⏰🚨 This weekend marks the end of daylight saving time. When you're changing your clocks back one hour Saturday night before bed, take a couple extra seconds and check your smoke alarms too.

Need smoke alarms? Call 311 to put in the request and PFD members will come out and install them, free of charge.

REMINDER: On Tuesday, November 17, 2026, around 2:20 p.m. ET, FEMA and the Federal Communications Commission will conduct a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS).

The test will air on radio and TV only and will not be sent to mobile phones. No action is needed from the public.

Federal law requires FEMA to conduct a nationwide EAS test at least once every three years. Routine tests help ensure the alert system is ready to provide timely information when it matters most.

Following the test, FEMA and our partners will review the results and identify opportunities to strengthen future alerting capabilities.

Hosting a Halloween party this weekend? Reduce your fire risk with these tips:

🎃 Choose battery-operated candles or glow sticks;
🦇 When you do use candles, keep them away from kids;
🕸 Keep decorations away from heat sources like lightbulbs or portable heaters;
👻 Keep all your exits clear in case there's an emergency.

Nearly half (47%) of U.S. home fires occurred because decorations were too close to a heat source; approximately one-third (33%) started with candles.
