It was happy to meet with these young advocates of Abington Senior High School to hear about their priorities in Public Education funding. Our future is bright with people like them coming of age.

As Philadelphia prepares to host FIFA World Cup, the FIFA Fan Festival, MLB All-Star Game, MLB All-Star Village, and America250PA celebrations, travelers can now access enhanced real-time traffic and transit information through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT)'s dedicated event travel page at 511PA.com/PhillyEvents.

The site features live traffic maps, travel times, incident reports, construction updates, traffic cameras, message boards, and SEPTA service information to help visitors plan their trips. PennDOT is also expanding traffic monitoring with additional cameras and message boards throughout the summer event season.

With millions expected to visit the region, drivers should prepare for heavier traffic, changing travel patterns, and increased pedestrian activity. Officials encourage travelers to check conditions before leaving by visiting 511PA.com or using the free 511PA mobile app.

Today, we commemorate D-Day. Eighty-two years ago, Allied forces launched the largest amphibious invasion in history, storming the beaches of Normandy to begin the liberation of Europe from tyranny.

The bravery and sacrifice of those soldiers are immeasurable. They faced incredible odds, fighting valiantly for freedom and justice, and their actions forever changed the course of history.

Let's never forget their profound impact and the extraordinary individuals who answered the call. Their legacy reminds us of the enduring fight for liberty and the triumph of the human spirit.

Yesterday , June 5th, Paul Miller’s Law officially went into effect in Pennsylvania.

Drivers are now prohibited from using a hand-held cell phone while driving, including when stopped at a red light or in traffic. The law aims to reduce distracted driving and make Pennsylvania roads safer for everyone.

Put the phone down phone, stay focused, and help save lives.

The Battle of Adwa, fought on March 1, 1896, stands as one of the most consequential victories in modern world history — a defining moment when Ethiopia, under the leadership of Emperor Menelik II and Empress Taytu Betul, successfully defended its sovereignty against colonial invasion and became the first African nation to decisively defeat a European colonial power during the Scramble for Africa. Adwa became a global symbol of freedom, dignity, unity, and resistance to oppression, inspiring generations across Africa and the African diaspora.

This week, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania recognized not only the enduring historical significance of Adwa, but also the remarkable contributions of the growing Ethiopian American community throughout Pennsylvania in commerce, healthcare, scientific research, education, technology, and service industries Ethiopian Americans continue to strengthen the Commonwealth’s economy, enrich its cultural diversity, and embody the same spirit of resilience, excellence, and civic contribution that made Adwa a historic triumph recognized around the world. I was honored to introduce HR441 to formally recognize Adwa Victory Day in Pennsylvania.

I was happy to present a citation to Mrs. Rosemary Timoney and the Timoney Irish Dancers before their spring recital this past Sunday at the Knights of Columbus Flaherty Council 3128 in Glenside.

After moving to the United States from Ireland when she was young, Mrs. Timoney dedicated her life to the dance art of her homeland and opened Timoney Irish Dancers where she and her other dance teachers have been teaching Irish dance for 60 years.

Sunday was Mrs. Timoney's birthday and it was a special honor to present her with the acknowledgement on such a wonderful occasion. Happy Birthday Mrs. Timoney and congratulations on 60 years of Timoney Irish Dancers.

This Pride Month, I renew my pledge to continue as an ally in the ongoing pursuit for equality, justice, and the right to love and live authentically without fear or discrimination. I am committed to advocating for policies and introducing legislation that protect and uplift Pennsylvania’s LGBTQ+ community, ensuring that everyone can live freely and with dignity.

To every LGBTQ+ person in this commonwealth: You are seen, you are valued, and you are loved.

Happy Pride! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈
