Take a trip back in time, a half century ago, and visit Hope and Reliance Fire Companies. The movie is open to the public and the Rowland will have their concessions open. We invite the past and present members of the fire department along with their families for an evening of stories from the past at the Main Station (former Reliance station).

This morning shortly before 10:00, the Philipsburg Fire Department was dispatched to the 3100 Blk Port Matilda Hwy (US Route 322) in Rush Township for a Vehicle Accident with Unknown Injuries. EMS Captain 23 arrived finding two vehicles on the roadway, advising two patients needing evaluated. Rescue 57, Engine Rescue 57, Utility 57 and Fire Police responded. Upon arrival, crews set up a single lane closure and checked both vehicles for hazards, containing fluids from one vehicle. The Rescue and Utility remained on scene with Fire Police for approximately 45 minutes until the vehicles were removed from the travel lane and the roadway was open.

Within minutes of returning to station, Chief 12 came upon a single vehicle rollover crash on Black Moshannon Rd (State Route 504) near Six Mile Run Rd in Rush Township. After determining there were no injuries, Fire Police were requested to assist with traffic control due to one lane being blocked in the S-Turns leading down to Six Mile Run. A short time later, Rescue 57 was added for cleanup due to fluids and debris on the roadway. Rescue 57 cleared after approximately 20 minutes while the Utility and Fire Police remained until the vehicle was towed from the scene.

On the way back from from the 504 crash, Rescue 57 stopped at Heritage Ridge Personal Care at Windy Hill on Dogwood Dr in Rush Township for a Public Service which was pushed back due to the emergency calls. The crew trained the staff on fire safety and the proper use of fire extinguishers before having a timed fire drill to give an early kick off to Fire Prevention week that officially starts next Monday. Thank you to the staff and residents for your participation.

Yesterday afternoon, the Philipsburg Fire Department, along with fellow area first responders, was honored to be recognized for our service to the community as part of a special observance marking the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The recognition took place prior to the P-O Mounties varsity football game against rival Clearfield.

We also had the honor and privilege of joining the Columbia Fire Company of Osceola Mills in displaying Old Glory during the ceremony and throughout the football game—a fitting tribute as we remembered the lives lost, the sacrifices made, and the first responders who answered the call on September 11, 2001.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the Philipsburg-Osceola Athletic Department for the invitation and to the entire community for recognizing and supporting its local first responders during yesterday’s event.

And finally, congratulations to the P-O Mounties on an impressive 48–28 victory over the Clearfield Bison—their first win over Clearfield in 15 years!

Thank you for allowing us to be part of such a meaningful evening.

Today, September 11, 2026, marks the 25th anniversary of the terror attacks that forever changed our nation.

Twenty-five years later, the Philipsburg Fire Department pauses to remember the innocent lives lost, including members of the FDNY, the Port Authority Police Department, and the NYPD who made the ultimate sacrifice and laid down their lives along with nearly 2,600 civilians.

We also remember the countless firefighters, police officers, EMS personnel, military members, dispatchers, healthcare workers, and ordinary citizens who answered the call that day and in the difficult days that followed. We honor those who later lost their lives or continue to suffer from illnesses related to their service at Ground Zero.

For first responders, September 11 carries a particularly profound meaning. The courage and selflessness displayed by our brothers and sisters who entered the towers while others were escaping remain an enduring example of what it means to serve.

A quarter-century has passed, but our promise remains the same:

We will remember their names.
We will remember their courage.
We will remember their sacrifice.
WE WILL NEVER FORGET.

Here at home, the Philipsburg Fire Department asks our friends and neighbors throughout Philipsburg and the surrounding communities to join us today in remembering the 2,977 innocent lives that were lost that day.

Our community may be hundreds of miles from New York City, the Pentagon, and Shanksville, but the events of September 11 touched every American community — including our own. The spirit of service demonstrated that day lives on every time a firefighter, police officer, EMT, dispatcher, or ordinary citizen steps forward to help a neighbor in need.

As a volunteer fire department, we are especially reminded that service begins at home. We are proud to stand beside the men and women of our local fire, EMS, law enforcement, emergency communications, and other public safety agencies who continue to serve our communities every day.

🇺🇸25 Years. Never Forgotten. September 11, 2021.🇺🇸
