💪WORKER WIN: Phoenix became the first city in AZ to codify heat safety requirements for our contracted workers w/ a 7-0 vote.
I’m so proud to have led this effort alongside labor leaders & my colleagues — a vital step to make us the most heat-ready city in the country.
Thank you Councilwoman Betty Guardado and Councilwoman Laura Pastor for always standing on the side of workers. Your advocacy over the years has made Phoenix a much better, safer, and more dignified place to work. I know you’ll keep delivering more reform in the years to come.
And the biggest thank you goes to SEIU Airport Workers United, UNITE HERE Local 11, Ironworkers Local 75, UA Local Union 469, National Council for Occupational Safety and Health, and the many other labor unions who have advocated for better worker protections for years.
Unions make our workforce better, stronger, and healthier every day. ✊🏼

No better way to spend my last formal meeting than with one of my favorite constituents, Mark Rodriguez!
Yesterday, he spoke in person at council chambers for the first time and then got to meet some of the councilmembers.
Mark tunes into every single council meeting and often advocates for more things to do in Laveen. It’s only “hasta la vista” for now, Mark.
The whole D7 team is sincerely going to miss you 💛

I’m still feeling so proud of the solidarity and energy we created at our 3rd Annual Nowruz 2024: A Global Night Market.🪻🪞🌱
At a time where hate and discrimination is at an all time high, Phoenix remains a strong example of growing diversity and resilience in action.
Nowruz Pirooz to all who are celebrating in Phoenix tonight and across the globe!

Today, I informed my colleagues at the City of Phoenix, AZ USA that I will be resigning my position as Councilwoman for District 7 on Mar. 28.
It’s been the honor of my lifetime to serve over 1.6M residents and help build a more equitable, sustainable and stronger city.
The fifth largest and fastest growing city in the country is undergoing a transformative period that demands thoughtful approaches to challenges including affordable housing, climate and water security, and community safety.
Through our collaborative work, we have delivered quality city services and advanced forward-thinking policy and programming that will allow future generations to not only thrive in our city, but be proud of doing so as Phoenicians.
I continue to believe Phoenix is one of the most dynamic and promising cities in the world. Innovation, culture, and grit has created a burgeoning ecosystem of stewards who want to take our city to the next level, and I’m so excited for our shared future.
I sincerely look forward to the opportunity to serve Phoenicians in the years ahead.

📚 Ended with the amazing 4th and 5th graders at Imagine Desert West Elementary in Maryvale!
They had questions about homelessness, how we’re protecting construction workers (many of their parents) and my day to day duties as a Councilwoman — such a smart bunch!
