The Pike County Sheriff’s Office extends our deepest condolences, heartfelt prayers, and unwavering support to the Kentucky State Police, the family, friends, and fellow Troopers mourning the tragic loss of a hero who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Today, we grieve alongside our brothers and sisters in gray as they mourn not only a dedicated Trooper, but also a beloved husband and father. Behind the badge was a man who answered the call to serve others, who willingly stood between danger and the communities he swore to protect. His courage, commitment, and selfless service will never be forgotten.

Our hearts are especially heavy for his wife and young children, who now face an unimaginable loss. While his sacrifice will be remembered by the citizens of this Commonwealth and the law enforcement community he proudly served, his greatest legacy will live on in the love he shared with his family and in the lives he touched throughout his service.

In times like these, we are reminded that the badge is more than a symbol of duty. It represents sacrifice, honor, and a commitment to others that often comes at a tremendous cost. Today, that cost has been felt by an entire law enforcement family.

As people of faith, we find comfort in God's promise that He is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Though we may not understand why tragedies like this occur, we trust in the Lord's grace and mercy, and we pray that His presence brings strength, peace, and comfort to all who are grieving.

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." — Psalm 34:18

Please join us in keeping this Trooper’s family, his fellow Troopers, and the entire Kentucky State Police family in your thoughts and prayers. May God wrap His loving arms around them and provide strength for the difficult days ahead.

Rest easy, Trooper. Your watch has ended, but your legacy will endure. You will never be forgotten.

Pike County Sheriff’s Office – Community Safety PSA
This evening, the Pike County Sheriff’s Office and the Pikeville Police Department conducted a joint Traffic Safety Checkpoint on Island Creek Road, with a focused effort on Occupant Safety.

Deputies and Officers provided safety belt and child‑passenger safety information while engaging directly with the community. The goal of this checkpoint was not to issue seat belt citations — instead, the emphasis was on education, positive reinforcement, and promoting safe habits for drivers and passengers.

Both agencies appreciate the community’s cooperation and remain committed to keeping Pike County families safe on our roadways.

This evening, Pike County Deputy Russell Blankenship attended the Phelps vs Pikeville Girls Junior High Basketball Game at Phelps, KY. While there, Deputy Blankenship handed out seatbelt and child passenger safety literature and was available to answer questions about the importance of occupant protection safety.
The Pike County Sheriff’s Office appreciates the opportunity to engage with students, parents, and fans to promote safe travel for every family in our community.
