What a great opportunity to sit down and get to know some of the amazing people who protect and serve our great community!!!

09/24/2026

He’s a great man with a big heart! His strength and love for this community is unmatched! Just rest and heal my friend!

Sending all our well wishes for a quick recovery to our neighbor to the south, Pittsburg Mayor Chuck Munsell.

I rarely make posts like this, but Chuck... Well he's one of the good ones. Many people may know Chuck as a politican, but they may not know he was also a career fireman long before he was elected to the Pittsburg City Commission.

When he retired from the fire department he could have just taken it easy. But not Chuck. He drove a school bus for years to continue to serve his community. He joined the Pittsburg city commission to continue to try to help the people of Pittsburg. When I was a journalist Chuck was well known in the newsroom as dedicated, honest, and always willing to take the tough questions.

A freak accident on Sunday has put Chuck in the hospital. He's going to be okay, pretty busted up, but he's tough. Knowing him though, laid up in a hospital bed for a few weeks is the LAST place he wants to be. Absolutely last place.

So.... hopefully some well wishes and love from his friends in Frontenac will make him feel at least a little better.

Get better soon Chuck! - Keesh

Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes, when possible, to use extreme caution when traveling in the area of construction, and be aware of workers in the work zone.

The City of Pittsburg appreciates the patience of motorists and residents while we work to resolve the situation. Please contact the City of Pittsburg Public Works and Utilities Department at 620-240-5126 with questions regarding this closure.

PROPERTY TAX RELIEF FOR PITTSBURG, KS

They said it wasn’t possible. They said it hasn’t been done. With months of hard work and dedication, your City Commission and Staff made it happen. We approved the 2027 budget. In this budget, we reduced the Mill Levy 3.5 Mills. That’s more than $640,000.00. We have cut spending and changed the way the budget process is done.

We are doing what our citizens asked. We are listening and we are doing. This has taken a ton of focus and energy to accomplish. We will continue to find ways to be more efficient and improve communication in the future. I’m very proud of what we have accomplished in the amount of time we have had.

There is still more work to be done. As always, thank you for all the support and encouragement.

Great things are happening in Pittsburg!

Great job today! Strength and fearlessness as we make sure to never forget!

09/11/2026

Great job today! Pride, Honor, Patriotism and sacrifice.

We remember! We haven’t forgotten. We all must show up and we all shall defend. The country we became the next day is who we truly are.

The site is more than my photos can describe. The magnitude of what stood there and what happened that day should never be forgotten.

*UPDATE*
City crews have conducted temporary fixes that ensure a safe and adequate water supply. The crew is waiting on some parts to finalize the repairs. Water reservoirs are slowly being refilled.

Although the city is no longer under an advisory, we continue to encourage people to conserve water and avoid unnecessary use. Normal household use is fine, but lawn watering, filling pools, and washing your car utilize heavy amounts of water.

There may be temporary isolated outages as the repairs are finalized.
Thank you for being patient as crews make repairs.

*UPDATE*
Customers should be experiencing normal water pressures. There is no longer an advisory for water usage but due to the extreme heat, we encourage continued water conservation.
