Many of you have heard about the fire at the Millvilla Apartments at the start of Grant Avenue. We are incredibly fortunate that as of this writing we only know of one person who was taken to the hospital for observation. A huge thank you to all the volunteer fire departments and first responders who responded to this emergency, with a special shout-out to the brave team that rescued a woman from the second floor window. The volunteer dedication continues to be a blessing for our small communities. Our thoughts are with those affected.

The Millvale Community Library also has Social Worker Rebecca offering support for any Community need, in particular at this time for the residents of the Millvilla Apartments. Rebecca is on site each Wednesday from 9 to 5, Thursdays 10 to 6, and Fridays from 1 to 6.

Individuals can also reach out to the Millvale Community Development Corporation via email at [email protected]

North Hills Community Outreach (NHCO) is available for support. If you live in the Millvilla Apartments and were displaced or need help, Please call (412)487-6316 option 2 or email them at [email protected].

The Borough of Millvale would like to extend a sincere thank you to our Citizens for your patience during this major snow event. We also like to Thank all first responders who have been out working in the storm for the past two days.

Our Public Works crew has been plowing since late Saturday night; however, given the volume of snow, space for relocation is limited.
Please be assured that our dedicated team of four, supported by our Code personnel, have been working around the clock and will continue snow removal efforts throughout the week.

If you see our crew out working, a thumbs up goes a long way in boosting morale!
We still ask that you avoid driving through town, if possible, to allow our team the space they need to clear the streets effectively.

We also want to recognize our “Snow Angels” who have spent the last two days clearing walks and steps for others. You are what makes Millvale such a special place to live.

There are a lot of folks today attempting to shovel out their cars. Please be mindful of the weight of the snow that is piled up around them and be careful. Also, as a reminder do not shovel the snow back into the road as it will only come back towards the cars when the plows come back through.

Continue being safe and strong Millvale and remember to look out for your neighbors.

Closing of The Grant Bar

It is with sincere regret and deep respect that I acknowledge the difficult, yet necessary, decision by the owners of The Grant Bar Inc. to close their doors after an incredible 90 years of service to our borough. The final day of operation will be November 29, 2025.

The Grant Bar has been far more than just a restaurant; it has been a true institution—a cornerstone of our community and a reliable gathering place across three generations of families. For nearly a century, it has represented the very best of Millvale's spirit: warmth, unwavering hospitality, and a deep sense of connection.
We join the entire community in mourning the loss of this historical landmark. As the owners rightly noted, the memories created within those walls—the milestone celebrations, the quiet family dinners, the shared laughter—are woven into the fabric of our borough's history. That legacy is permanent.

On behalf of the Borough, I want to express our profound gratitude to The Grant Bar Owner & Staff, both past and present. Your ninety years of dedication, loyalty, and passion created a truly special place.

Thank you for making our borough a better, richer, and more delicious place to live.
Lets all stop by The Grant Bar in the coming week to offer thanks, share a final story, and support the staff and owners during this bittersweet farewell.
While The Grant Bar’s chapter is closing, the spirit it fostered will undoubtedly inspire the next generation of local businesses. Millvale will miss you deeply.

Mayor Brian
