Stay safe out there! And please check on your neighbors!

Dangerous heat is coming to Pennsylvania — with temperatures expected to be over 100 degrees throughout the rest of this week and weekend.

As we gear up for a busy weekend, please stay hydrated, stay indoors as much as you can, check on your neighbors, and follow PA Emergency Management Agency for updates on heat advisories in your area.

We are happy to announce that Chair Kate Garfinkel and Vice Chair John Ukenye won today’s county reorganization.

We had an awesome 67% turnout, thanks to all who came to the Southside to vote.

Events like this can’t happen without the many volunteers. Thank you to all, including Pittsburgh Fire Fighters.

Thanks to all the candidates for running and participating in this rigorous democratic process.

Incredible news! Congrats Coach!

It would be an understatement to say it has been an emotional couple of months for Tom Sorce.

On May 16, hours after his family welcomed a new grandchild, his 94-year-old mother passed away. On the day of the funeral, Sorce had to leave early to join his Shaler team for a WPIAL Class 5A quarterfinal matchup against Armstrong.

“She had normal problems for someone that age,” the 71-year-old coach said. “We weren’t expecting it, but we saw the decline. We ran the gamut of emotions.”

Softball has always been a big part of Sorce’s life, but with everything going on, it became more than just healthy competition. It was much-needed therapy.
