You really cannot make this stuff up.

Allegheny County Council held a Public Safety Committee meeting to address a serious dispute over who is responsible for guarding hospitalized prisoners.

The one person central to that discussion? The sheriff. And apparently, nobody successfully invited him.

Apparently, we've reached the point where Allegheny County Council can't even organize a public safety meeting without creating another problem.

Here’s the kicker:

The committee chairman admitted that he called the Sheriff's Office, nobody answered, and he didn't bother leaving a message.

Seriously? We're talking about PUBLIC SAFETY, not organizing a neighborhood block party.

Cheers to Allegheny County Council! 🥂

Apparently, even an invitation is too much to ask for these days.

Because maybe it’s time we spent a little less time worrying about cleaning up Washington and a little more time cleaning up and protecting our own backyard.

We can argue about Washington every day. But strong communities aren’t built in Washington. They’re built by people willing to show up at home. So, bring your spouse. Bring a neighbor. Bring a friend who has never attended a political event before.

Before we worry about changing the country, let’s make sure we’re taking care of home.

The Allegheny County Board of Health approved their revised paid parental leave mandate. The proposed mandate to County Council includes 12 weeks parental leave for businesses with more than 15 employees.

Allegheny County’s Board of Health will vote at 12:00pm on a rule that could require larger employers to provide up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave. If approved, it heads to Allegheny County Council and then to the County Executive.

Dear County Executive Innamorato;

A Starbucks can be replaced. One of your beloved constituents—who was a husband, a pediatrician, a neighbor, and a man who spent his career caring for sick children cannot. A family was shattered. A community lost a doctor who spent his life helping children.

Maybe your priorities should start reflecting that. Not what you think is fashionable this week.

The PA Health Department has formally withdrawn their proposed Communicable and Noncommunicable Diseases (basically COVID lockdown x100). Of course, this is election time—no surprise. However, this does not diminish the efforts of everyone involved who were able to put this insanity at a screeching halt. Thank you to the PA lawmakers, organizations, medical professionals, and, most importantly, the citizens who stood up, asked questions, submitted comments, contacted their representatives, and demanded accountability.

And while this particular proposal may be withdrawn, we should continue paying attention to what is proposed in Harrisburg in the future before they try to pull a fast one on us again.

Or just vote for Stacy Garrity to make it easier! 😉
