Officer Brian Armstrong of the Forest Hills Police Department started the K9 program in 2003. He held fundraisers and sold t-shirts to raise enough money to purchase a dog and equipment. K9 “Nomos” joined the department and quickly became a celebrity in the area. In 2005 “Nomos” was diagnosed with a ruptured vertebrae in his neck and was retired from duty.
