When seconds count, 9-1-1 must stay available for true emergencies! If it’s life-threatening or dangerous, call 9-1-1. For everything else, use local non-emergency numbers to keep lines clear for those who need urgent assistance. 😊

💙 April is Child Abuse Prevention Month 💙
This year, we unite under the theme:
✨ “Powered by Hope, Strengthened by Prevention” ✨
When families have the right support, resources, and education, they can build safer, brighter futures for their children. Prevention starts with all of us—through advocacy, awareness, and community connection.
🚨 Know the signs. Take action.
Recognizing the signs of abuse can save a child’s life. Learn what to look for here:
📞 If you suspect abuse, don’t wait:
• Contact your local law enforcement
• Call the Texas Abuse Hotline: 1-800-252-5400
As summer approaches and children spend more time out of school, it’s even more important to stay vigilant. A simple action could make all the difference.
💡 Call to Action:
✔️ Educate yourself
✔️ Speak up when something doesn’t feel right
✔️ Support families in your community
Together, we can protect our children and create a safer future. Because every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and loved. 💙

During this month's Neighbors Connect, the City of Plano Neighborhood Services team is hosting a hands-on workshop about Planning for Aging.
Representatives from the Area Agency on Aging and the Wellness Center for Older Adults will share what to consider as you grow older. Topics will include practical planning, wellness, support systems and community resources.
Planning for aging is not just a personal decision. It also shapes our families, our neighborhoods and the kind of community we build together. When we plan ahead, we help create a city where people can thrive at every stage of life.
Whether you're planning for yourself, supporting a loved one or looking to learn more, this session will offer helpful tools, insight and a fresh perspective.
Thursday, April 23
6 - 8 pm

One of the most important tips we can share about contacting 9-1-1 is simple; know your location!
Unlike apps like Uber or Google Maps, 9-1-1 does not provide your exact location when you call. That’s why knowing where you are is crucial in an emergency!
Helpful location details include:
➡️ Street names & intersections 🛣️
➡️ Nearby businesses or landmarks 🏪
➡️ Apartment or building numbers 🏢
➡️ Mile markers or natural features 🌲
Being able to describe your location can save time and lives. Stay prepared—Know Your Location!
