| PROPOSED PLATTEKILL LIBRARY BUILDING

It has been brought to our attention that our previous post may have given the impression that the information was published or advertised by the Library. We want to clarify that this information is being shared independently by the Town.
Several residents have reached out to elected Town officials requesting additional information regarding the proposed library project.
On September 23, 2026, the Town hosted a public forum attended by Library representatives and the professionals hired to assist with the project. Residents were given the opportunity to ask questions and hear directly from those involved.
Based on information presented at the public forum, the projected costs include:
* Building Project: Approximately $6.9 million
* Interest: More than $4.5 million
* Total Projected Cost: Approximately $11.4 million or more
* Operational Costs: A projected 15–18% increase
The September 23 public forum is available on the Town’s YouTube channel, and additional information can be found on the Plattekill Public Library’s website.
We believe transparency is important, especially when public funding and taxpayer dollars are involved.
Our intention is not to influence anyone’s vote, but to make information accessible so every resident has the opportunity to review the facts, ask questions, and make their own informed decision.
The Library is a separate entity from the Town, and this post is intended solely to provide public information.
