Thank you, Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI), for inviting Produce for People to OMSI After Dark: Homegrown. We had a fun night meeting fellow garden lovers and sharing information about the Friends of Portland CommunityGardens.

Many of our partners, including Produce for People, Portland Nursery, Portland Fruit Tree Project, and Urban Gleaners, were also at this wonderful event!

Is it okay to donate this gigantic zucchini to Produce for People?

ANSWER:
Yes! Although most people prefer eating smaller zucchinis (6 to 8โ€), lots of families who visit food pantries LOVE the larger ones. They provide a larger portion of squash and can be used to make stuffed zucchini boats, soups, fritters, and of course, zucchini bread.

Zucchinis have a habit of hiding away and becoming HUGE. We understand, and the food pantry will be happy to take this monster off your hands.

Thank you to whoever donated this beauty and to our lovely model!

Thank you to all who grow food for your families and for others!

Thank you to all who grow food for your families and for others!

It's Labor Day โ€” a day to honor hard workers! Although our Produce for People volunteer gardeners love growing vegetables for local food pantries, it can be hard work. It takes physical effort to plant, w**d, water and harvest our crops in ALL kinds of weather!

Thank you to all of the hard-working and generous PFP volunteers! Your amazing work growing vegetables helps feed hundreds of Portland families each year!

May your PFP beds be filled with the bounty of the season... beans, tomatoes, peppers, squash and all other wonderful vegetables!
