One week ago today, we hosted a very special event honoring the life and memory of our late wife, mother, and matriarch, Lisa Allen Lybrand.

For those who didn’t know her: Lisa was the heart behind—and the sole curator of—the 2,500+ pieces of giraffe-themed art and memorabilia now on display at . We established the Collection & Gallery in her honor.

This past Saturday was a day of celebration and remembrance, with 50% off admission, free tours and giraffe swag for kids, and a 5 pm cocktail bell-ringing ceremony for close friends, family, and neighbors (a loving soirée that—no surprise—lingered well into the night 😁).

We’re so grateful to everyone who joined us in curiosity, love, charity, and remembrance—for what is now becoming an annual . For those who couldn’t be there this time, we hope to welcome you next year. ☺️

This one came from an ancient camera roll from what looks like a retailer (some sort of housewares, socks, and magazine store??) in what we'll guess is *probably* New York City sometime in the 2010s.

At first, this rather nondescript giraffe spotted as one of few decor in the sparse lobby of a cheap hotel in Puerta Vallarta (and when I say cheap, I mean glorified shipping containers with poor plumbing out by the airport, albeit clean) seems similar to many you might spot in a global art or souvenir shop.... but actually, I invite you to look a *little* closer, as I did. And notice its rather unique, leather-scaled skin, its hand-tuffed mane, and its delicate, silver head. Probably most notably of all, DIDN'T OWN ONE so that alone makes it unique in my book!

But this one, he seems different than most—most likely hand-made and supplied by someone who offered it a home knowing it so—and honestly, the most unassuming thing in the most unexpected place.
