Walkway event to showcase plein air method Plein air (French for open air) painting became popular in the 19th century in both Europe and America when paint manufacturers made a wide range of pre-mixed oil pigments available for the first time in collapsible tin tubes and the lightweight transportable box easel was invented.

Today is the big day! Hope to see you all tonight at the auction, starting at 4:30 at the Mid-Hudson Children's Museum at 4:30 PM! Be sure to be on the lookout for artists painting up until about 2 PM. Feel free to snap some photos and post on here or on Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park's page!
