🚒 Fire Prevention Week at the LaGrange Fire District! 🔥

Fire Prevention Week is an important reminder that fire safety starts with education and preparedness. At the LaGrange Fire District, we take that message beyond just one week and recognize the entire month of October as Fire Prevention Month!

Throughout the month, our firefighters visit local schools and daycares to provide fire prevention and safety presentations to children throughout our community. These visits give us the opportunity to teach children important lessons about fire safety, recognizing potential hazards, knowing what to do in an emergency, and the importance of having a home fire escape plan.

By starting these conversations at a young age, we hope to build lifelong safety habits and help keep our community safe. We are proud to work alongside our local schools, teachers, and childcare providers to bring these important lessons directly to the next generation.

A little education today can make a big difference tomorrow!

Today, members of the LaGrange Fire District participated in hands-on training focused on vehicle stabilization during motor vehicle accidents.

Properly stabilizing a vehicle is a critical step in extrication, helping ensure the safety of our firefighters, rescue personnel, and the patients we serve. Through continued training and teamwork, our members work to sharpen their skills and stay prepared to respond when our community needs us most.

🔥 CHIMNEY FIRE SAFETY 🔥

As we head into the heating season, the LaGrange Fire District reminds everyone who uses a wood-burning fireplace or stove to make chimney safety a priority.

🏠 Have your chimney inspected and cleaned at least once a year by a qualified professional.
🪵 Burn only seasoned hardwoods.
🚨 Install and maintain carbon monoxide detectors in your home.
🧯 Keep combustible materials away from your stove, fireplace, and chimney connector.
🔍 After a major storm or other event that could cause damage, have your chimney inspected.

A clean, properly maintained chimney can help prevent chimney fires and protect your home and family.

If you suspect a chimney fire, get everyone out of the home and call 9-1-1.

Take a moment to review the safety tips in the flyer and make chimney maintenance part of your annual home-safety routine.

The LaGrange Fire District is excited to announce that on September 8, two of our newest members officially began the Westchester County Career Chiefs Fire Academy.

Our new firefighters will spend the next 21 weeks at the academy receiving comprehensive training and education in the skills and knowledge necessary to serve our community as career firefighters. Upon successful completion of the academy, they will return to the LaGrange Fire District to continue with department-specific training and familiarization.

Please join us in congratulating our newest members as they begin this important step in their careers. We wish them the best of luck and look forward to welcoming them back to LaGrange after completing the academy!

The LaGrange Fire District would like to extend our sincere thanks to New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) Forest Rangers Grillo and Pries for providing an outstanding Wildland Search Class hosted by the LaGrange Fire District.

This valuable training provided firefighters with hands-on instruction and practical skills for conducting searches in wooded, remote, and challenging environments. These skills are essential when responding to incidents involving missing or lost persons.

We were also pleased to have members from the City of Beacon Fire Department, Union Vale Fire District, and Pleasant Valley Fire District join us for the training. Interagency training allows departments to work together, share knowledge, and strengthen our ability to operate effectively during complex incidents.

A special thank you to Forest Rangers Grillo and Pries for sharing their knowledge, experience, and expertise with our members.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this a successful training opportunity!

🌲 Train together. Respond together. Serve together. 🚒

This week, the members of the LaGrange Fire District conducted hands-on training focused on Rapid Sequence Intubation (RSI).

RSI is an advanced airway management procedure used in critical, life-threatening situations when a patient is unable to adequately protect their airway. Our members reviewed the equipment, medications, procedures, and teamwork required to safely and effectively perform RSI when indicated.

Regular training and repetition are essential to maintaining proficiency in high-acuity, low-frequency procedures. Our crews continually train to ensure they are prepared to provide the highest level of care when our community needs it most.

A special thank you to our members for their continued commitment to training, education, and patient care. 🚑👨‍🚒

Train today. Be ready tomorrow.

Su***de Prevention & Mental Health Awareness

At the LaGrange Fire District, we know that taking care of our community means more than responding to emergencies. It also means looking out for one another—especially when someone may be struggling silently.

Mental health is health. Asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Whether you are a first responder, a family member, a friend, or a member of our community, you are never alone.

If you or someone you know is struggling, reach out. Start the conversation. Listen without judgment. Be there.

📞 Call or text 988 — Su***de & Crisis Lifeline
Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

🚨 If there is an immediate danger or a life-threatening emergency, call 911.

Sometimes a simple question—“Are you okay?”—can make a difference.

Let’s continue to support each other, break the stigma surrounding mental health, and remind our community that it’s okay to ask for help.

You matter. Your life matters. Help is available.
