Asking for community help so that we may also help you in your time of need and help expedite things. Feel free (not just today) but anytime you experience high waters causing road blockages or flooding issues to take a picture and send us a message on messenger with the physical address and we will do all we can.

DO NOT attempt to drive through high water and use good judgment to ensure your safety. We will also monitor the situations with the weather but we sometimes don’t know exact areas affected without you all.

Thanks!

FORECAST ISSUED: 9:00 AM EDT, Thursday, August 13th, 2026

Good morning,

Thunderstorm complexes will move across Eastern Kentucky today and tonight. These complexes pose a risk of torrential rainfall, flooding, and severe weather.

WEATHER HIGHLIGHTS / IMPACTS:

A Flood Watch remains in effect for far Eastern Kentucky through Friday morning. Depending on storm evolution, the Flood Watch may need to be extended and/or expanded.

Several storm complexes will move across the area today and tonight, each posing a risk for torrential rainfall and gusty winds.

Scattered instances of flash flooding are possible, especially in areas hit by multiple rounds of storms.

There is also a low-end risk of severe storms this afternoon and evening. Damaging wind gusts are the main concern.

Multiple rounds of showers and storms will continue tomorrow, bringing an accompanying threat of isolated flash flooding.
