I’m grateful that Hurricane Isaias left no reported fatalities across North Carolina. This is in no small part thanks to the National Weather Service (NWS), which provided alerts that mobilized people to safety in a matter of minutes.

This is why in Congress I will keep fighting back against cuts to NWS to make sure families have the info they need when extreme weather strikes.

Erik Grubbs' Sunday quickly went from relaxing to alarming when a tornado suddenly struck his neighborhood in northeast Raleigh.
