Five years ago I got a crazy idea.

Inspired by an iconic building.

Now, incredibly talented quilt pattern testers are working their way through the pattern.

And I cannot wait to share about my Eiffel Tower-inspired quilt pattern called Forge.

But first, check out these gorgeous fabrics designed by the talented Diane Labombarbe for Riley Blake Designs

This collection is called Tangled Garden and I LOVE how it looks in this quilt pattern.

Ten books for the beginning of fall (and yes, I have read all of these and recommend them)

Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier (only read if you want to be creeped out)

Where Ivy Dares to Grow by Marielle Thompson (that ending!!)

Spells for Forgetting by Adrienne Young

The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna (cozy read that I always recommend)

Belladonna by Adalyn Grace (the whole trilogy is 5 stars)

Starling House by Alix E. Harrow ( I got a couple of my besties to read it and they loved it)

One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig (gorgeous debut novel)

The Deal by Elle Kennedy (probably my favorite of the entire Off Campus universe)

The C*ck Down the Block by Amy Award (such a good fluffy book)

The Maidens by Alex Michael idea (my jaw was on the floor)

Which one of these are you adding to your TBR?

Gothic novels weave the macabre and paranormal as metaphors for the haunting issues we face in society.

Add a dash of romance, and I mean romance as in a fondness for a time and place, even bordering on the obsessive. It is not romance as in a happy ending. The romance can even be towards a person, but it is not about falling in love. Rather it is about the idea of falling in love.

Gothic novels provide a space for us to wrestle with read deep and powerful issues. It's not just a spooky story, but a way to explore the inner workings of human society.

This is why I love reading Gothic novels.

If you also love reading these kinds of novels, share this post.

What's in a good book?

It transports you out of this world and into another.

It lets you experience situations and emotions as either a practice or a healing, without ever having to actually experience them.

Gothic novels, which mix the macabre, romance, and deeper social issues, gives such a space.

These are some of my favorite Gothic novels.

Stay tuned for part 2.

I designed and wrote the quilt pattern Stay after my own struggles with suicidal thoughts and ideations.

You bring something unique to this world. Please stay.

When I think about fantasy and magic, I immediately think of the macabre.

These books are my favorite and a stained glass quilt block was just the way to commemorate this intense and gratifying genre.

The has finally arrived and now you can make your own Edge of Light quilt block.

It is traditionally pieced with curves and templates. Enjoy full color instructions which wall you through each step and even give you some pointers on how to create a more precise (and jaw-dropping) quilt block.
