Students explored clubs and extracurricular activities, discovered Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, and got a glimpse of the opportunities waiting for them in high school.

“This is a moment that I will always cherish and remember.”

For Vandenberg Elementary first-grade teacher Joi Burks, the surprise recognition from the Detroit Lions’ Touchdown for Teachers program was about more than a $3,000 grant. It was a reminder that the heart, hard work, and thought teachers put into their classrooms truly matter.

Joi hopes to use the grant to create hands-on learning experiences that spark curiosity, build confidence, and make learning exciting for her first-grade students. 📚✨

We’re so proud to see our educators recognized for the difference they make every day! 🦅💙

Thank you, Detroit Lions for celebrating teachers like Joi!
