Occupy Reno

As just a teenager, Claudette Colvin helped launch a movement for equal rights when she was arrested in 1955 for refusing to give up her seat to a white person on a Montgomery, Alabama, bus.

Today, the march continues as we remember her life and legacy. Rest in power, Claudette Colvin 🕯️.

Renee Nicole Good was a 37‑year‑old U.S. citizen, mother, partner, and community member in the Twin Cities who was fatally shot by an ICE agent in south Minneapolis on January 7, 2026. Officials and family describe her as a kind, loving person who was not the target of any law‑enforcement investigation.

She was a U.S. citizen and the mother of a six‑year‑old child; the child’s father, Timmy Ray Macklin Jr., died in 2023.

Her mother, Donna Ganger, called her “one of the kindest people I’ve ever known,” describing her as loving, forgiving, and affectionate.

Community members and local officials described her as a beloved Minnesotan and a caring presence in her neighborhood and activist circles.

Three OR members were at the action in front of the downtown Fed Building today. There was also a bit of an open mic soapbox. It was cold, but very upbeat with the comradery of several other activist orgs including Code Pink. There were lots of young people there, eager to take the baton. Perhaps its time we helped them finish what we started? Solidarity.
