It's that time - SAVE THE DATE! Rancho San Rafael Regional Park's 19th annual Meet the Turkeys event is just around the corner - Sunday November 8th from 10am-1pm in the Nevada Farms & Families area next the Wilbur D. May Museum. Join us to have your family photos taken with the turkeys, meet farm animals, explore the Rancho Playroom (formerly the Discovery Room), go on a scavenger hunt, and much more with all of our community partners and their fun activities! ⚠If you have any questions/concerns about bird flu or need to report a sick bird, please contact Nevada Department of Wildlife. Please remember to GIVE ALL WILDLIFE SPACE!⚠

Bird flu has been confirmed in geese in the Reno/Sparks area.

The Nevada Department of Wildlife, alongside state partners, is responding to an outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in multiple flocks of geese.

If you encounter a goose that appears sick, please give it space! Avoid touching or moving the bird, and keep children and pets away.

Signs of illness can include unusual head or neck movements, difficulty walking, poor coordination and lethargy.

Report sick geese to NDOW at (775) 688-1500.

The public can play an important role in helping reduce the spread of bird flu by knowing what to look for and taking the proper precautions.
