A century ago, posters like this called on America’s bravest to step up.

Today, the path to becoming a Marine Officer is just as challenging — and just as vital.
It demands more than physical strength. It takes grit, discipline, and the will to lead Marines in the toughest environments on earth.

Few are ready. Fewer are chosen.
Do you have what it takes?

OCS Land Navigation isn’t about checking boxes. It’s about proving you can stay calm under pressure, make decisions when no one’s watching, and find your way when everything looks the same. As a Marine officer, your ability to navigate isn’t optional — your Marines will trust you to lead them through the unknown. Earn that trust now. Here is an example of what NOT to do.

Candidate McLain has spent the past nine months with the Officer Selection Team and is scheduled to report to Officer Candidates School on May 25 with Class 249.

Prior to pursuing a commission, he worked as a contract attorney, supporting various firms through temporary legal projects. Now, he is focused on becoming a Marine Officer—driven by a desire to lead, serve, and be part of a community that challenges him to grow personally and professionally.

We wish Candidate McLain the best as he takes on the challenge of earning the title United States Marine.

Candidate Ronan first walked into the OST on 20 Nov 2024. On 25 May 2025, she heads to OCS. After retiring from building a successful restaurant group with her husband—a Marine she’s stood beside for 10 years—she felt called to serve. She’s seen firsthand the impact strong leadership has on young Marines, and she’s ready to give back. They deserve guidance, mentorship, and someone who’s fully invested in them. Semper Fi.

Happy Easter Weekend
Easter morning, April 1, 1945 — As the Battle of Okinawa began, Marines and Seabees gathered atop Mount Suribachi for Easter service on Iwo Jima. In rain and remembrance, hymns rose over a battlefield still echoing with sacrifice.
