It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the loss of one of our own, Marvin Bendy.
Marvin was a valued volunteer member of North River Valley Volunteer Fire Company and a retired Fire Captain from Camden, New Jersey. His years of service reflect a lifelong commitment to the fire service and to the communities he was proud to serve.
The fire service is more than a job or a title—it is a brotherhood and sisterhood that lasts a lifetime. The stations may change, the apparatus may change, and eventually the gear is hung up for the final time, but the bond never fades.
Marvin dedicated a part of his life to answering the call, helping others on their worst days, and standing beside his fellow firefighters. We are grateful that a portion of his journey brought him to our department and allowed us the privilege of calling him one of our own.
Today, we lower our heads in remembrance of a brother firefighter who has answered his final alarm. Though his final call has come, his legacy of service, sacrifice, and brotherhood will forever remain within the fire service and in the hearts of those who had the honor of serving beside him.
Rest easy, Captain Bendy. Your duty is complete, your brothers and sisters will carry on the watch from here.
