Thanks Andy!! Great points with this potentially hazardous storm coming -
Report problems on the city side. If you see a blocked storm drain, a clogged detention pond outlet, or debris in a creek, call Public Works at 801-208-3162 or email [email protected] so crews can clear it before the next storm.
Get free sandbags. Residents can get up to 25 free sandbags per household. Apply at rivertonutah.gov/sandbags or at the Public Works Building, 12526 S. 4150 W.
Stay safe
West side neighbors, this one's for you. I've heard from a lot of District 1 families whose homes take on water during heavy storms. In some of our neighborhoods, uneven yards and grading that slopes toward the house send runoff right to window wells and the foundation. With storms coming this weekend and next week here's how to get ready and where the city can help:
Check your yard's slope. Walk your property during or after a rain. If water pools near your foundation or runs toward the house, that's a sign your grading needs attention. Downspout extensions, splash blocks, and building up soil along the foundation can make a big difference.
Keep water moving. Sweep your gutter, clear the storm drain grate in front of your home before a storm, and sweep up after mowing so clippings don't clog the drains.

If your home floods because of how your lot was graded, please reach out to me! My email address is [email protected]. I want to hear where it's happening so we can look at what the city can do, including holding new development to better grading and drainage standards.
