🚨 EMERGENCY POWER SHUTOFF & EVACUATION NOTICE

ComEd has temporarily shut off electrical power from Lincoln Lane to 137th Street and from Kostner Avenue to Komensky Avenue, including the area around 135th Street.

The temporary power shutoff is due to a severe gas leak in the area. The precautionary shutoff is intended to prevent potential sparks or ignition if gas is present in nearby homes or properties.

The affected area has been evacuated. Emergency crews are currently on site and working to address the situation. The estimated repair time is approximately 2–4 hours.

Residents and individuals in or near the affected area are urged to:

Follow all evacuation instructions from emergency personnel. Avoid creating sparks, using open flames, or operating anything that could cause ignition.
Stay clear of the affected area and allow emergency crews to work safely.

Follow instructions from emergency personnel, ComEd, and other utility crews.

Please share this information with neighbors, family members, and anyone who may be affected.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience while emergency personnel and utility crews work to resolve this situation safely.

Chief Engineer Charles Johnson graduated from High School in 1979. That night, instead of going out to celebrate, he literally came straight to the Firehouse in his cap and gown and sat in front of the station all night. That is the type of commitment that Charles had to the Robbins Fire Department and the community, he will truly be missed.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of former Chief Engineer Charles Johnson, who passed away early yesterday morning. Charles proudly served the Robbins Fire Department for 42 years, from June 1979 through June 2021.

Chief Engineer Johnson dedicated more than four decades of service to our department and community. His commitment, dedication, and service will not be forgotten.

Please keep his family, friends, and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Thank you all.

This past week, the Robbins Fire Department participated in driver training to strengthen the skills that help us safely and effectively serve our community. Our members had the opportunity to train using a state-of-the-art driving simulator, allowing us to practice a variety of real-world emergency driving scenarios.

A big thank you to the Illinois Fire Service Institute for bringing the driving simulator trailer to our department and providing this valuable training. We appreciate your continued support in helping us improve our skills and better serve the residents of Robbins.
